Egypt has decided to resume the daylight saving time starting May 15, said a cabinet statement issued on Thursday.
Daylight saving time was abolished three years earlier, following the January uprising.
The decision came in order to alleviate Egypt's energy crisis, explained the statement.
The government said that the decision is linked to Egypt's economic conditions, which led officials to force frequent power cuts in order to ease the load on electricity consumption.
Egypt will not apply the daylight saving during Ramadan, a religious month that the Muslim majority of Egyptians observe through fasting.
